Common Tasks in Business Central

This page covers the most frequently performed tasks in Business Central.

Using the Search Feature

  • Press Alt + Q or click the search icon (magnifying glass) at the top
  • Type the name of a page, report, or action
  • Select from the results to navigate directly

Accessing Main Areas

  • Sales - Customer quotes, orders, and invoices
  • Purchasing - Vendor management and purchase orders
  • Financial Management - Payments, deposits, and journals

Frequently Used Actions

Creating New Records

  1. Navigate to the desired list (Customers, Vendors, etc.)
  2. Click + New in the ribbon
  3. Fill in required fields
  4. Click Save or press Ctrl + S

Searching for Records

  1. Open the relevant list page
  2. Use the filter pane on the right
  3. Or use Ctrl + F to search within the current page

Printing Reports

  1. Navigate to the record or list
  2. Click Print/Send in the ribbon
  3. Select your desired output format
  4. Click Print or Preview
